- Born in Yokohama, Japan / Real name: Katsuhiko Akasegawa

- Showed Enlarged Thousand-Yen Note and wrapped objects at 15th Yomiuri Independant Exhibition
Formed Hi Red Center group with Jiro Takamatsu and Natsuyuki Nakamishi
- 1965
- Indicted for on charges of counterfeiting because of the reproductions of thousand-yen notes used in art works (convicted in final trial by Supreme Court in 1970)
- 1970
- Began teaching a course at Bigakko Art School
Began writing a series of art reviews for the Asahi Journal, "Yajiuma Gaho" (bystander's art report). From the fourth installment on the title was changed to "Sakura Gaho"
- 1979
- Began writing novels under the pen name Katsuhiko Otsuji. Received the Chuo Koron New Writer's Prize for a novel"Hadazawari" under the name of Katsuhiko Otsuji
- 1981
- Awarded Akutagawa Prize for a novel "Father Has Disappeared"

- Formed the "Rojo Kansatsu Gakkai" (Street Observation Academy)
- 1989
- Helped write script for the film "Rikyu" on the life of a tea master, directed by Hiroshi Teshigawara
